Alex Doggett
Owner of Cotswolds Health and Fitness Club, Alex has been working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer for 6 years, working with a range of different clients to help them achieve their goals. His main interest is in rehabilitation and recovery work using functional training techniques to provide core strength, relief from back pain and improved posture and alignment.
Alex’s interest in exercise, health and fitness began at a young age as a swimmer where he worked his way up the ranks eventually competing at National standards. He graduated from Leeds University in 2004 with a BSc honours degree in Sports Science and Physiology. From there he went on to complete a Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Science at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he had his research into the effects of exercise on health published in the journal of Medicine & Science in Sport and Exercise.
Working from his gym in Bourton on the Water, Alex continues to enjoy all aspects of fitness, and works with clients to improve their general well being, fitness, lifestyle, confidence and diet.
“It’s been 12 years since my stroke left much of body paralysed. I’ve been to various rehabilitation centres and gyms, making a slow but steady recovery progress. I was then recommended to see Alex some 2 years ago. Since then Alex has worked on, and is continuing to do so to great effect, my many weaknesses. His enthusiastic and empathetic approach to both my physical and mental needs is outstanding. I am amazed at what progress I have made in the relatively short period I have been training with Alex and have no qualms in recommending his work to anyone. My only regret is that I hadn’t come across someone like Alex earlier!”
